Frequently Asked Questions -

"Scientific medicine has taken credit it does not deserve for some advances in health. Most people believe that victory over the infectious diseases of the last century came with the invention of immunisations. In fact, cholera, typhoid, tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough, etc, were in decline before vaccines for them became available - the result of better methods of sanitation, sewage disposal, and distribution of food and water."

     Answers:

1.) What is an adjustment?
An adjustment is a gentle pressure or force used to correct vertebral subluxations. Sometimes during an adjustment you may hear or feel a “popping” or “clicking” sound. There are many different types of techniques used to perform adjustments. Some techniques utilize the doctors hands and some even use little machines and instruments.

2.) Do adjustments hurt?
Not at all, a properly delivered adjustment should actually feel great! If an adjustment ever hurts, even a little bit, just let your chiropractor know and he/she can possible use a more gentle technique.

3.) What do you mean by gentle? I thought chiropractors needed to be forceful to make spinal corrections.
Not at all-many of our adjustments are achieved with the amount of pressure of one hand gently resting upon another. As a matter of fact, when an adjustment is performed on a new-born baby, the amount of pressure used is so slight, that often times the parents don’t even realize that the adjustment took place! Most people are not aware that for the last thirty years, chiropractic has developed powerful techniques involving light touch adjustments. These adjustments prepare the body for long-term correction and not just a "quick fix".

4.) Will I be sore afterward?
You may be sore after the first or second time you get adjusted-sort of like when you perform a new exercise that you haven’t in some time. It’s not normal to be sore every time, let your doctor know if you are and she/he will change the approach.

5.) Someone said once I start going to a chiropractor I will need to keep going forever, is this true?
Not at all, one adjustment may help you. However, chances are that the vertebra that went out of place will return to its previous position until it is "trained" as to what the proper position is. That is why most chiropractors recommend several adjustments at the beginning of your care plan. Of course, this depends on the severity of your subluxations. After that, you may need to come in periodically for maintenance care (to keep the problem from returning).

6.) Are there specific adjustments for specific diseases?
No.Your chiropractor will check your entire spine for subluxations. Depending on the problem, we may look more closely in a particular area-and check for subluxations in this region. See the nerve chart. Remember, chiropractic is not a substitute for medicine. If you want to keep from having problems-have your spine checked for subluxations.

7.) Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept most major insurance plans.

8.) What if I have an HMO?
We are on a few HMO plans. However, some HMO's limit your chiropractic benefits based on what they think you need. Its more important that the doctor, not insurance company, makes the decisions regarding your health. If your HMO limits your chiropractic visits or doesn’t chiropractic coverage at all, let us know and we can give you some of our monthly rate discounted cash plans.

9.) Do you have payment plans available if I don’t have insurance?
Yes!, we have flexible payment plans that are affordable for practically everyone. The types of plan that is best for you, depends on what type of care you wish to receive. Short term relief care plans are different than corrective care plans. Individual care plans differ from family care plans. Give us a call and we can go over a plan for you and your family that best fits your financial situation.

“I’m Thankful I Found Dr. Gallagher”

I have suffered from lower back pain, headaches, and left hip pain for years. Sometimes my back burned to the point of unbearable pain. I am a nurse, and I work a lot of hours. My pain was always worse at the end of a shift and in the mornings when I would wake up. Dr. Gallagher is the first chiropractor I’ve seen in five years. After the first week, my pain felt much better.
I’m in my forties and I want my spine healthy so as I get older, I can enjoy life as normal as possible. I’m thankful that I found Dr. Gallagher. He is great at his profession, we need more good hearted people like him.

"Back Pain"

I hurt my back and after a few days I had to miss work. I saw four different doctors and was given muscle relaxers and a back brace, but the pain continued. My back pain kept me from doing any types of sports, I couldn’t cut my lawn, and couldn’t walk for a long distance. I felt better after I started chiropractic care. It has helped me and my family because I have become a more productive human being without the use of medications or surgery. The best way to feel better is through chiropractic care. Thank You Dr. Gallagher.

“Dr. Gallagher Has Done Miracles”

Before I started chiropractic care, I suffered from numbness on the left side, extreme headaches, lower back pain, mid back pain, neck pain, and pain between my shoulders. It all started after I slipped and fell at work on a cement floor. Because of my condition, I could not perform at my normal job, (waitress). I had trouble sleeping, lifting, walking, stooping or squatting, could not sit longer than 30 to 40 minutes without pain in my back, neck, arm, and leg.
After two weeks, my pain is significantly less. Mobility has improved. Strength to my left side is returning and my headaches are almost gone. I swear by chiropractic care. No medicine or drugs, no invasive procedures. Dr. Gallagher is better than sex! There is no need for me to see any other doctors. Dr. Gallagher has done miracles.
